Mobile World Congress is almost upon us and it feels like it couldn’t come at a better time in the world of communications and connectivity; a time when the world of satellite communications and the mobile networks are working together more closely than they have ever done before.
5G is surely going to be the hot topic this year, with news about its applications and challenges coming through thick and fast at the moment. It will be interesting to see if the mobile network operators have the same views about it as the satellite operators, who are attending in full force this year with the likes of SES, Intelsat, Inmarsat and even OneWeb exhibiting.
Speaking of OneWeb, with their steady stream of social media activity ahead of the proposed launch on the 19th February, it will be great to see them and hear how their satellites are performing during their first week in orbit.
Barcelona is one of the leading smart cities globally, so what better place to hold the show. Speaking of which, IoT, another sure-fire talking point this year, has finally started to move well and truly away from being a concept. So it will be interesting to see the new technologies that will be on display.
Laurie and I can’t wait to attend, it will be my first MWC and I am really looking forward to attending a city I love. I went last year as a tourist so have already prepared a list of restaurants we are sure to be visiting, no doubt with some of you reading this.
If you are attending, please reach out to myself or Laurie Scott to arrange a time to catch up to chat industry, recruitment and all things Mobile World Congress.
